FAQ
- What is the difference between the Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace and other high quality knee braces, such as the DonJoy eXtreme Action Armor knee brace? Both the Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport and DonJoy eXtreme Action Armor knee braces are excellent in providing knee joint stability and both are medical grade knee braces. The Ossur CTi has developed a big name for itself amongst elite motocross racers and we have to believe that its combination of support, rigid frame, and motocross accessories have a large part to do with its success with these athletes.
- How does the Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace compare to the Asterisk brace?
The Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace is a medical grade brace while the Asterisk is only a brace sold at sporting goods stores. As a matter of fact, Asterisk will not provide its knee braces for sale to anyone in the medical field! The difference lies in the quality of construction of the Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace, the rigidity of its frame, and its more anatomic features such as its hinge design. While the Asterisk may cost significantly less, you clearly get what you pay for. Actually, the developers of the original Ossur CTi knee brace are the ones who started the Asterisk line as their low-end model.
- Why do you only sell the Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport version and not the standard CTi OTS knee brace?
The Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport version of the knee brace has several additional layers of carbon fiber that makes the frame more rigid than the standard CTi OTS knee brace. This is critical for improved performance in contact sports and high impact activities such as skiing, football and motocross. At JointHealing, our physicians don't believe in just selling every knee brace on the market; we believe in recommending what we would actually provide to our patients. And we think the small additional cost of the CTi OTS Pro Sport model is well worth the extra safety it will provide to you and your knees.
- How does the Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace compare to the custom CTi knee brace?
Both knee braces utilize Ossur's anatomically correct Accutrac hinges and both utilize Sensil padding and SensEdge overmolding to improve comfort and fit. Both knee braces are indicated for ACL, MCL, LCL, PCL, rotatory and combined instabilities. The CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace has a flexible subshell, while the Custom CTi knee brace is rigid. The Custom CTi knee brace comes in many colors, while the CTi OTS Pro Sport knee brace only comes in black. The Custom CTi knee brace must be prescribed by a doctor, can only be provided by a local orthotist with multiple measurements, and is not available from us at JointHealing.Com. The Custom CTi also costs much, much more (more than $1,000 more for a pair, typically) than the CTi OTS Pro Sport version of the knee brace.
